An Interesting Find!
Hello there peeps, I am sure that you have been waiting for another update so here am I. This week I have learned lots of new things on the internet including the things that I have known before.
To sum it all up, it will conclude all of my findings down here.
First of all, I have learned about Search Engines and Online Database.
Search Engines.
- A search engine, such as Google or Yahoo!, uses computer algorithms to search the Internet and identify items that match the characters and keywords entered by a user.
- Search engines are useful for finding information produced by governments, organizations, groups, and individuals. Examples of reliable information you can find through a search engine include freely available statistics published by a government agency or a freely available article published by a reputable news outlet.
Online Database.
- Library databases allow you to efficiently search for published information such as magazine, journal, and newspaper articles. Library databases can be general (all disciplines) or discipline-specific (e.g. a psychology database).
- Databases often provide access to the full-text of an article so you do not need to go to the library to retrieve it in person. Additionally, database access is purchased by libraries for its patrons which allows you to access otherwise pricey information at no charge.
Now let us move on to Computer Mediated Communication (CMC) and ESL.
Computer-Mediated Communication (CMC)
- Computer-mediated communication (CMC) is a process in which human data interaction occurs through one or more networked telecommunication systems. A CMC interaction occurs through various types of networking technology and software, including email, Internet Relay Chat (IRC), instant messaging (IM), Usenet and mailing list servers.
- Computer mediated communication is divided into synchronous and asynchronous modes. In synchronous communication, all participants are online simultaneously. In asynchronous communication there are time constraints on communication messages and responses, as with emails.
ESL
- Methods of learning English are highly variable depending on the student's level of English proficiency and the manner and setting in which they are taught, which can range from required classes in school to self-directed study at home. In some programs, educational materials (including spoken lectures and written assignments) are provided in a mixture of English and the student's native language.
Finally, I learned about collaborative learning. In simpler terms, its learning with your friends. be it in real life or through the internet. Mostly it is done through the internet where as all of the group members have an administrative privileges and are able to edit the files or data in order to perfect a work.
That is all from me for now peeps.
See you guys on my next post!
